Tragic Death of Jett, John Travolta’s Son

Tuesday, January 6, 2009 23:26

John Travolta and Kelly Preston have a kind of special love for their children, our children (and for our world) and it’s saddens me to learn about wonderful people who do a lot of good, after such a tragic event. Family comes first and they know that very thing. Can’t say the same for much of Hollywood. I had little knowledge of John and Kelly until this week, mainly because they keep their private life out of the public, which is the way it is suppose to be. When their son Jett was tragically found dead Friday in a bathroom, it hits to the core of the loss of a child, and no parent deserves to go through such pain. My heart goes out to John and Kelly - great people who deserve our respect. And John - a good actor too!

Please be sure to check out Kelly Preston’s personal website - she has some great photo’s and you can also check out some links and causes she supports. Protecting kids from every known drug that pychiatrists want to give them, keeping our streets clean and drugs off the streets, basically what parents need to be are parents.

No wonder so many kids are on drugs - I blame all the video games, television, and culture of violence, drugs, and sex…do I really need to go on? Come on people - do you honestly think our ancestors needed drugs as kids to calm down. Why not get your butt out on a farm at sunrise? - I guarantee you’d you be dead tired by sundown. Stop whining and build something, use your hands, use your body not just spending your days in front of a television set and complaining of ADD or ADHD. Use your brain.

Look at Michael Phelps - did his mom put him on meds for trying to calm down? No, she made him swim and now he’s got more Olympic Gold medals than he knows what to do with. Family values and keeping active - good for her for realizing that!

Global Warming: Everything’s Cool

Tuesday, January 6, 2009 22:36

Global Warming: We’re supposed to be living in fear of our coastal cities drowning because we refuse to give up oil and the modern machines it powers. Yet today’s sea ice levels match those of nearly three decades ago.

Global Warming? What is that? Not that I want to ignore our environment and God’s green Earth but new factual data reveal that perhaps global warming is NOT so.

According to DailyTech blogger Michael Asher, “Thanks to a rapid rebound in recent months, global sea ice levels now equal those seen 29 years ago, when the year 1979 also drew to a close.” This isn’t Asher’s opinion, but fact based on data from the University of Illinois’ Arctic Climate Research Center.

I have always been on the fence on this issue because you can’t rule out the idea that man could cause problems but enough to dramatically alter our landscape in such a short time.

I watched Al Gore’s film, “Inconvenient Truth” and no wonder the American people have been in fear. I see the ice caps melting and I don’t like it either but when you have leading experts and scientific data all pointing to cyclic weather patterns, then what is a peon like me telling people what I think - I’m no expert. So here — I am just passing on the message.

In his 2006 movie “An Inconvenient Truth,” he needlessly stoked fear by claiming that global warming could cause sea levels to rise 20 feet “in the near future.”

It was one of three dozen misstatements made in the Oscar-winning propaganda film that was promoted as a serious scientific documentary.

Could the unexpected increase in sea ice, then, be a signal that the Earth is cooling? We can’t say with any degree of certainty. But then, neither can the alarmists argue with any measure of assurance that man is causing the planet to warm.

Mother Nature always has a way of balancing out.

The 2008 Weblog Awards: LGBT Category - Vote for Gay Patriot

I am forwarding you a message from Tammy Bruce, and I also encourage those to vote for Gay Patriot. Tammy deserves a lot of credit as I have been a loyal listener and reader for many years . I was surprised Tammy fell into the Best LGBT Blog category when her blog rarely covers LGBT issues. In many ways I find my blogging similar to Tammy’s style which is at the core of conservative principles rather than limiting to more or less gay issues.

2008 Web Blog Awards

Polls close Tuesday January 13, 2009 at 10:00 p.m. Greenwich Mean Time (GMT), which is 5:00 p.m. (EST) and 2:00 p.m. (PST).

I’m pleased to announce that Tammy Blog has been nominated for a Weblog Award. I must say, however, I was a little surprised to find that I’m in the Best LGBT Blog category. While I’m most certainly of the L word, the blog in fact rarely covers those issues. Once again, though, what I do seems difficult to categorize so perhaps this was the one that fit. A little.

That said, while I’m honored and will even post the Weblog Finalist Icon on the main page for all the glory and high-mindedness it will bring, I encourage you to vote for someone other than myself–out of fairness and what’s right vote for Gay Patriot in this category. Gay Patriot is an excellent political blog, actually has the word “gay” in the blog name, and covers gay issues, among many others, from a conservative, patriot framework. So instead of voting for me, let’s rally behind the blog in the category which is deserving of the honor–Vote for Gay Patriot.

Make up your mind for all the other categories, and you can vote once every day. Please make sure you do so as the Libs will be mobilizing their peeps to do the same. Now go out there and vote! Everyday. In every category that interests you.

Ann Coulter Has a New Book

Ann Coulter’s new book Guilty - Liberal “Victims” and their Assault on America

In her most controversial and fiercely argued book yet, Ann Coulter calls out liberals for always playing the victim — when in fact, as she sees it, they are the victimizers. In GUILTY, Coulter explodes this myth to reveal that when it comes to bullying, no one outdoes the Left. GUILTY is a mordantly witty and shockingly specific catalog of offenses which Coulter presents from A to Z. And as with each of her past books, all of which were NYT bestsellers, Coulter is fearless in her penchant for saying what needs saying about politics and culture today.

NH: Londonderry High Band Ready To Play At Obama’s Inauguration

You’ve got to be joking. New Hampshire is catering to Obama’s Inaugaration. Good, I can tell my family in Maryland to watch out for the marching band. OK OK..I am bad. This is a good thing, right? Can’t be that bad - they’re doing a good thing…I think. One day many years from now they’ll look back and be glad they had a chance to shine in a “history-making” event. Or they won’t want to talk about it. But hey, they got a chance to perform ‘Over the Rainbow’ - too bad no Ludacris. I’m sure the crowd would have really loved that.

President-elect Barack Obama’s inauguration is two weeks away, and among those attending will be the Londonderry High School marching band.

The 280 student members have had about a month to prepare. The band will be one of 70 groups that will perform and is the only representative from New Hampshire.

“We’ll be performing for the president ‘Over the Rainbow,’ our own arrangement, which is pretty cool,” said Andy Soucy, director of music. “It’s a song of hope. And we’ll play ‘Strike up the Band,’ ‘Magic City’ and ‘Celebration’ by Kool and the Gang.”

[..]

The students said they’re looking forward to having a chance to shine in the nation’s capital at the history-making event.

Video: Moving Big Rocks - Truly Amazing

Family member forwarded me this email and video today. This is truly amazing!

Wally Wallington can move anything.

For hundreds, maybe thousands of years, people have been trying to figure out how primitive people could build huge structures such as Stonehenge and the pyramids out of stone blocks weighing thousands of pounds. Scientists have been stumped.

Then along comes a normal guy - a retired Michigan construction worker - and he says well, I would do it like this. And he does. This guy uses the simplest tools known to man and shows how simple and easy it would have been to create Stonehenge.

This is a really great video clip. Amazing how this guy could figure out something that has confounded scholars for centuries. And not only figures it out, but demonstrates it!

This guy could build a replica of Stonehenge single-handedly, while a committee of 20 or 30 Civil Engineering professors from leading universities would be debating how it might be done.

More Liberal Hoopla

Way to go Tammy- you hit the nail on the head - between liberals, Democrats, and yes those Republicans drinking the Kool-Aid, all we get is the same old crap. Conservatives better pay attention.

More proof liberals have completely lost their mind, still, over Sarah Palin. And that, of course, is a good thing.

Reid, McConnell to preach unity. Yep, now Republicans are trying unity with Democrats and not just any Democrat, Harry Reid. Have they gone completely mad? This is why conservatives need to get active and vocal.

Senate race with Al Franken up 225 votes over Norm Coleman. Now isn’t that a scary thought? What is wrong with this picture? Oh, people wanted change.

Al Franken won an impressive share Saturday of what may be the last ballots tallied in the U.S. Senate recount, boosting his unofficial lead over Sen. Norm Coleman to 225 votes heading into a Monday meeting where the state Canvassing Board will certify the final result of the race.

Coleman will sue - I say, “GREAT!”

January 2009: New Books:

Don’t forget to buy Ann Coulter’s new book - Guilty: Liberal “Victims” and Their Assault on America. I’ve read Ann’s earlier books and cannot wait to read her new one. Yes, like always…it’s controversial. I say - bring it on. Liberals have gotten away with way too much for way too long.

And later this month, Bernard Goldberg’s new book - A Slobbering Love Affair: The True (And Pathetic) Story of the Torrid Romance Between Barack Obama and the Mainstream Media. Bernie has a lot of good things to say so I will definitely enjoy this one.

Humor? Or NOT! Brave New Obamaian World!

Feel like I’m in the Twilight Zone? Help us all….

Sign a petition: Rahm Emmanuel Must Resign

Rahm Emmanuel has acted disgracefully, and possibly illegally in regards to efforts to sell off the U.S. Senate seat of President Elect Barack Obama.

Emmanuel engaged in negotiations with the Illinois politician now facing impeachment hearings over allegations of corruption for selling off Obama’s seat to the highest bidder.

Emmanuel first discussed Obama’s preference of who should be appointed and then went further and submitted a list of candidates acceptable to Obama.

These facts reveal that Obama and Emmanuel lied when they assured the public that, Obama would have a “hands off” approach to the Illinois governor’s selection of who would replace Obama in the U.S. Senate.

Our government is supposed to serve the people, it is not supposed to be an institution where the politically corrupt and powerful engage in unethical conduct to further cement their political power.

It’s time for Rahm Emmanuel to resign, and if prosecutors should find substantial evidence of wrongdoing, then for him to also face prosecution for any acts of criminal wrongdoing he may have engaged in.

What’s going to happen next wtih Roland Burris? He insists he wants to be the next junior senator from Illinois. Calling himself “the magic man.” Is this some kind of joke? Why would anyone accept the appointment after the seat being tainted? I know if I were a respectably individual interested in a seat, I would not want a scandalous governor by my side. Now I know why they call Chicago the “Windy City” and it has nothing to do with Lake Michigan.

Not another governor? Richardson’s withdrawal raises questions about severity of federal probe

Bill Richardson’s sudden departure from President-elect Barack Obama’s proposed Cabinet has raised questions about the severity of the federal investigation into possible “pay-to-play” schemes at the top levels of the New Mexico government.

Sen. Dianne Feinstein slams Obama CIA head pick - Good for her.

Israeli Troops Enter Urban Zones in Gaza in Major Clashes With Hamas
Israeli troops engaged in major clashes with Hamas gunmen in northern Gaza Monday night, marking Israel’s first incursion into Gaza’s densely populated urban centers as air support and artillery shelling backed up the ground troops.

Laura Ingraham had atheist Michael Newdow on her radio program today because now he wants to  ‘Remove ‘God’ From Inaugural Oath’- what a blowhard! He talks about how he wants to do something for everyone but what exactly is he trying to accomplish? Other than having a whole lot of time on his hands to irritate people of faith. And the one question Michael could not answer Laura was how exactly he was being “harmed” by [hearing] the word God. Basically calling Michael the Rosa Parks of atheists. All he kept rambling on about was how people (I guess atheists) ‘feel’ excluded and then he went on trying to compare what happened with blacks to what is now happening to atheists. Ah, NO! And what exactly is happening now? I am still confused as to Michael’s whole reasoning - the guy can get a job as an atheist, right? He works in the ER for crying out loud. He can sit in the front and back of the bus so again, what exactly is he being denied? I have family members who do not believe in God but they don’t get wired up over something so silly as hearing or seeing the word ‘God’. This is not only ridiculus but offensive. And folks, this isn’t the first time he’s tried pulling God out of our heritage. He’s lost before in court and he will lose again.

NH: President Declares Ice Storm Major Disaster

Saturday, January 3, 2009 14:03

Last month, New Hampshire was hit with a severe ice storm knocking out power to thousands of customers and creating damage that has now been declared a major disaster by the federal government, making public assistance available. I was fortunate and lucky not to have been affected - so I have to count my lucky stars. I know quite a few residents of the Granite State had been without power lasting into the Christmas holiday.

President George W. Bush granted Gov. John Lynch’s request on Friday. The declaration means communities affected by the storm in the state’s 10 counties will be eligible for public assistance to help cover the costs of emergency operations and repairs.

“I’m pleased that President Bush has issued this disaster declaration to provide assistance to our hard-hit communities,” Lynch said.Preliminary damage estimates put the cost of the storm at more than $15 million. The declaration does not provide individual assistance or help for businesses through the Small Business Administration. State agencies are continuing to work with the Federal Emergency Management Agency to apply for that aid.The state has a hot line set up for anyone with questions or concerns related to the ice storm at 888-330-6764.
